The
IISA was founded in 1991 by a group of manufacturers, retailers
& skaters who chose to be proactive about enhancing the
future of the sport. Since then, the IISA has developed
effective educational programs, promoted safe skating &
protected & expanded access to public skate ways across the
country.
In 1995, Consumer
Product Safety Commission (CPSC) Chairperson Ann Brown awarded
the first ever Chairman's Safety Award to a non-profit
association. This was presented in recognition of the IISA's
commitment to safety & for programs pursuant to the cause of
safety.

pads

development, including a program of qualified

Government
Relations Program
But
what good would these other IISA programs be if there were no
place to skate? The IISA GRP presents & protects
environments where skating can be safely practiced. Since 1991,
the GRP has successfully defended skating venues in more than
three dozen locations, including Central Park, New York City;
Venice Beach, California & London plus Ontario in Canada.
