Lunge
Stop
The
lunge
stop is probably one of the most rarely used inline skating
moves, but it also happens to be one of the most graceful.
Another similiar motion is the lunge
turn. Both are a great way to tone the quardriceps, just
make sure you leave plenty of room for execution.
The
beginning resembles a parallel turn, only the turn radius is
much shorter & the wheels are at a sharp enough angle to the
ground to dissipate speed.

From
a standing position: lunge forward, one leg at a time.

To
get a feeling for corresponding edges, stand an arm's length away
from a wall with your skates on. Scissor your right leg forward
& lean your right shoulder against the wall. This puts you on
corresponding edges. Turn around & repeat this drill on your
left side.

Make a deep
lunge
Make sure your lunge is deep enough. A deep lunge puts the inside
edge of your right skate at a greater angle. The greater the
angle, the greater the pressure you can apply. Pressure is what
gives you the tight, stable turn you need to stop.

Terrain
You need a
relatively level grade to execute this move
