Pivot progression

| While standing in one place on grass or carpet, skates
parallel, practice pivoting 90 degrees (a quarter turn of a clock). Work your
way up to 180 degree turns. When you practice, keep your arms raised as you do
in the back to front pivot & focus on lifting your heels slightly to turn. |

Strengthen Your Ankles
|
| While standing in one place, lift one skate
& trace 360 degrees
circles in the air, strengthening your ankle by rolling it in complete circles.
Switch legs & work the other ankle. |

Pivot Practice
|
|
Create a landing line out of string. Practice pivoting 180
degrees without your skates & finishing on this line, arms extended and
aligned with it. |
